The Christmas season is a magical time filled with joy, warmth, and a sense of community, and for educators, it holds a special place in their hearts. As the festive spirit envelops schools and classrooms, educators find themselves immersed in a unique and wonderful experience that goes beyond the academic routine.
One of the most enchanting aspects of the Christmas season for educators is the opportunity to foster a sense of unity and togetherness among students. The holiday season brings people together, and in the classroom, it provides a chance to celebrate diversity and cultural traditions. Educators can use this time to teach students about various holiday customs, instilling in them a sense of appreciation for different cultures and traditions.
Creativity flourishes during the Christmas season, and educators often embrace this festive atmosphere to engage students in unique and meaningful activities. From crafting holiday decorations to organizing festive performances, the Christmas season allows educators to infuse their lessons with creativity and excitement. These activities not only make learning enjoyable but also contribute to the development of essential skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
Moreover, the Christmas season provides educators with an opportunity to emphasize the values of compassion and generosity. Many educators take this time to instill a sense of social responsibility in their students by organizing charity events, community service projects, or donation drives. Teaching students the importance of giving back fosters empathy and a lifelong commitment to making a positive impact on the world.
The Christmas season is a truly wonderful time for educators. It allows them to create memorable learning experiences, promote values of kindness and generosity, and enjoy a well-deserved break. The festive spirit permeates every aspect of education during this season, making it a magical and heartwarming time for both educators and their students.
Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) during the Christmas season brings a unique charm to language learning. Festive themes provide a rich context for language acquisition, allowing students to explore cultural traditions, vocabulary, and expressions associated with the holidays. Engaging activities such as crafting holiday cards, singing carols, and discussing festive customs not only enhance language skills but also make the learning experience enjoyable. The holiday spirit fosters a warm and inclusive classroom environment, encouraging students to communicate in English while celebrating cultural diversity. In this season of joy, EFL educators create a dynamic and festive atmosphere that makes language learning both educational and delightful.
Undeniably, there is a plethora of teaching recourses, printable worksheets, not only downloadable and for free but also online.
We have decided to share with you a different worksheet/template focusing on writing for A2-B1 level learners. We know that during this period of time, learners really struggle with classes, since they are all in a “Christmas mood” focusing on everything but school work. However, engaging students in fun and intriguing activities may help them stay focused and willing to go the extra mile for December.
Using the present writing template, learners will be given the chance to revise Christmas-related vocabulary, activate background knowledge on the topic of Christmas as well as engage in a fun, collaborative writing activity.
- The learners can be divided in teams(if necessary) and be allocated time in order to complete the short writing story.
- Vocabulary can be pre-taught or revised so that the teacher makes sure the learners are familiar with the topic and content-related words.
- Clear instructions need to be provided by the teacher, so that learners do not get confused
- A dice needs to be available for each team, in case teams are created for the activity. The learners roll the dice 4 times so that they have all the information needed for the task, namely character, time, place and plot
But above all, learners need to have fun, be creative and enjoy the process.
